Health Conditions

Allergies

What is it: Allergies are exaggerated immune responses to substances (allergens) that typically are not harmful.  If your immune system is overactive, your body will react to allergens similar to how it would treat a harmful bacteria or virus. This overreaction is what causes common allergy symptoms like wheezing, itchy eyes and hives.

How chiropractic can help:

Allergies are commonly caused by an overactive immune system.  Your immune system is controlled and regulated by your brain, spinal cord and the nerves throughout the body.  Added stress, improper spinal position, irritated nerves and poor lifestyle factors all contribute to an exaggerated immune system response. Chiropractic care can provide all the building blocks to optimizing and maintaining a healthy immune system throughout life.

Arthritis

What is it: Arthritis is inflammation of the joints.  In your body, cartilage protects your joints by absorbing impact. Cartilage allows you to move freely, smoothly and without pain. When cartilage is lacking, your bones rub together, making it painful for you to use that particular joint.

How chiropractic can help:

Specific adjustments and lifestyle modifications can reduce irritation and inflammation in the joints, nerves and throughout the body.  Extra strain, aging and inflammation can occur when the spine and joints are out of their normal positions.  Chiropractic care looks to realign the spinal bones to normalize the neurological response. This process naturally boosts the healing response needed to treat arthritis.

Cancer

What is it: Every day we have cancer cells produced throughout the body.  We are not defenseless as our immune systems function is programmed to seek, identify and destroy cancer cells that occur naturally. Cancerous cells can divide quickly when the immune system is depleted by stress, poor nutrition, lack of physical exercise, toxicity and improper neurological input.

How chiropractic can help:

Our lifestyle, diet, exercise regimen, stress and the health of our nervous system all play an integral role in boosting one’s immune system.  These factors also promote healing and balance critical hormones that play a deciding factor in the development of cancer.  Many cancers are slow-growing.

Diabetes

What is it: Diabetes is the presence of constant high blood sugar levels. In your body, the hormone insulin is used to take glucose (a type of sugar) from your bloodstream and put in into your fat, liver and muscle cells. When your body stops producing enough insulin to carry out this process, or when your cells stop responding to the insulin, the amount of sugar in your blood remains elevated.

How chiropractic can help:

Blood sugar levels are constantly fluctuating based on how your body responds to physical, chemical and mental stress.  Physical stressors such as pain, poor posture, injury or being overweight can cause blood sugar levels to be elevated.  Chemical stress such as poor diet and exposure to toxins will elevate blood sugar levels through the stress response as well.  Emotional stress is one of the most common forms of stress which also has an impact on blood sugar levels.  Chiropractic care looks to boost and normalize how your body responds to stress, which can naturally lower blood sugar levels.

Headaches

What is it: A headache is exactly what it sounds like. The pain can occur in various areas of the head and scalp, as well as in your shoulders. They can be caused by physical impact and injury, or emotional stress. Migraine headaches are a more severe form often accompanied by sensitivity to light and nausea.

How chiropractic can help:

A headache involves the nerves in the body.  Pain is transmitted through the nerves and wherever the nerves go.  Abnormal position of your spinal bones is the primary cause of irritation and inflammation to the nerves in your head, neck and shoulders. Specific spinal corrections will realign the spine and take pressure off the nerves that cause your headaches.

Heart Disease

What is it: Heart disease occurs when plaque accumulates in the walls and arteries of your heart. Plaque continues to build upon itself until blood can longer flow to or from the heart through the affected passage. This condition is the leading cause of death in the United States. Often, this disease develops while showing no symptoms.

How chiropractic can help:

Heart disease is caused more by poor lifestyle factors and impaired healing ability than by genetic predisposition.  Research has shown that it is not the amount of cholesterol but the type of cholesterol that produces plaque.  Chronic stress, lack of exercise, improper spinal position, excessive exposure to toxins and the consumption of processed, man-made foods will all cause oxidation of cholesterol.  The oxidation of cholesterol is what makes it harmful.  Chiropractic care that includes lifestyle modification will provide your body with an ideal healing response and enable your body to naturally fight the plaque that causes heart disease.

Obesity

What is it: Obesity is the condition of having too much body fat. It can be caused by overeating and lack of activity but also commonly involves toxicity and hormone imbalances. Extra body fat, especially around the midsection, can make you more susceptible to diabetes, heart disease, stroke and certain types of cancers.

How chiropractic can help:

Chiropractic care does not change your lifestyle: You do. Our clinic provides simple, sustainable programs that address nutrition, exercise, toxicity and the neurology that contribute to a healthy hormone response.  Through integrated programs, our patients commonly lose weight, get in the best shape of their lives and reverse lifestyle-induced disease without fad diets and harmful medications.

Thyroid

What is it: Your thyroid gland controls your metabolism. If it malfunctions, your body uses its energy faster or slower than it should. Hypothyroidism—the more common of the two conditions—occurs when your thyroid is too inactive. Hyperthyroidism is the condition resulting from an overactive thyroid gland.

How chiropractic can help:

Hypo or hyperthyroidism is a sign that the production of thyroid hormone is altered. The brain, spinal cord and nerves control the thyroid and the other glands directly related to the production of the thyroid hormones.  There is a strong correlation between thyroid disease and the structure and integrity of the spinal column.  Chiropractic care specifically addresses the health of the nerves and the lifestyle factors that inhibit the proper production of thyroid hormones.
